Revelstoke Mountain Resort

A few days ago Revelstoke Mountain Resort had their official opening party. This is the long awaited development that has been in the making for 20 years. The mountain itself has amazing potential and is one I tour often. For the last two years progress has been happening on the hill, from glading to road building. This last year I timber cruised the Gondola line. One of my summer jobs is to assess wood value in unharvested areas; so we walked the entire Gondola line before they cut it down. And now it is this long undulating 3500 foot run. Early in the season I had hopes to be the first to ski the run but I had other priorities and only skied it today.

I left the car at 6:30 and toured the 6000 feet to the top of the hill, twenty cm of fresh snow lay carpeted everywhere. SO I had an great 4000 foot run and then back up my skin track to go and find the Gondola line.

I look forward to the hill development, it will change a few things but will benefit everyone in the end. With a great ski hill I can always take family somewhere for a great ski and it will also be a fantastic hill for my children to learn on.

Take a look at the Revelstoke skiing in this trailer my buddy Frank made.http://www.ifilm.com/video/2811156

The last two days have been 10 000 footers, quick and to the point. Home by 11:40 and time for family.
