My first Video

Well I promised video and here it is. Its not perfect but much like my photos last year the quality will improve as I get more comfortable with the whole process.

I have had two more great days in Rogers Pass, one early morning where I toured up Mcgill and had some nice deep powder turns with some friends and then headed home to figure out Final Cut Pro. And then today I headed up Cheops to the North bowls which turned out to be very wind affected ( notice the head cam shot, ) But Dave and I then toured up to 8812 bowl and had some fantastic blower powder the whole way down. I tried some follow camera but it did not pan out at all.

Well here is my first Raw Backcountry video, not smooth, not perfect, not filled with exquisite ski footage but fun none the less.

Tell me is video a more interactive way to see what’s happening? Does it involve you a little more, help bring you closer to the mountains?

For a first I would say great job. And the fact that it isn’t just "ski porn" makes it all the more better. It would be cool to see a still pic of the climb and descent (like last year) and the video of it. Keep up the good work.

Really nice! The video is a great addition, it really adds depth to your blog entries. I can’t wait to get back to RP.

    Encore! Encore!

I’ll second Thomas’ comment that it’s a better video because it’s not simply "exquisite ski footage".

Last year I enjoyed seeing the tracks of your routes and hope you can find time to do the same this year.

I was ready to post how I really enjoyed still pictures on your website because they are quick and easy to see. However, after watching the video, I must say it really does have a lot of impact. You suck! Wish I had your skiing out my back door. When are you going to start the, "Ski with Greg Hill guiding service?"

Hey Greg: Good work on the introductory video – real authentic! Are those Goode’s your on? If so, what model? How do they perform on descents? Thanks.

I admire what you’re out there doing. Video looks great too so far — can’t wait to see it when it starts getting really polished.

I knew it, you really do go at 2x speed on the uptrack. Now there is proof! Cool terrain.
